Default CDF Mini-social at JB on January 1

I'm sure everyone's aware that our plans for a New Year's Day Social at Ginnie Springs got blown out by the threat of flooding. A few of the staff of the Cave Diver's Forum decided to do a mini-social at Jackson Blue.

The best part is that cave divers will receive free entry to the park, compliments of Cave Adventurers and the Jackson County Department of Parks and Recreation. Just go by Cave Adventurers and sign in as usual. We'll have a cookout, though not as elaborate as the one we had planned for Ginnie.

I'm bringing the bare essentials for a cookout - I have 48 hot dogs and buns, 48 hamburger buns but only 20 burgers, cheese, condiments, coleslaw, and five 12-packs of assorted soft drinks. If we have a lot more people show up than we expect, we can send someone up to the Winn Dixie for more burgers and drinks.

If anybody wants to bring anything, we could stand a few large bags of chips.

I hope to see lots of folks there!

It was a great day! Well, once Gregg Stanton showed up and took over the grill duties. (Hey, I smoke with wood; I don't know how to grill with charcoal.)

Special thanks to Stacy and Edd from Cave Adventurers for the New Year's Eve Social and Galaxy Dive - we were able to use plates and utensils and stuff, plus leftover soft drinks, at the CDF mini-social.

We were disappointed to have to change things around, but we had about twenty people at the picnic.

I'm looking forward to the next one!
