    Default Royal Springs re-opens

Royal Springs was open yesterday, after a few months of 'restoration' and 'improvements'. The spring is reversing possibly, but for sure it is full of river water. There are more boardwalks, bathrooms, picnic tables soon.

    Thanks for passing info!

What are cave diving rules in RS? Does somebody have a line sketch? Is it worth of going in with backmount? Is there iron ranger now as in Troy?

No cave diving, no fee (county runs it like Little River), just real easy access. Mostly used for OW training and checking out that new Dry Suit or gear in open water. There is a platform on the bottom to minimize silting.

This is what I hear in regards to cave diving at Royal: The only reason to go into Royal is to get a body or to become a body.

Is it clear? No? Well....let's go anyways.

I remember hearing that the cave is very small and extremely silty with little to no flow under good conditions. Don't bother.

The way my instructor put it was, "There are two reasons to go into Royal: to do a recovery or to be a recovery."

Well I would not recomend anyone to dive there but I have solo dove it before with no problems. Very little flow and if silt is kicked up it takes days to clear. I suggest you up to par on your lights out on line drill. I say stay out of it though like the other guys say there is only two reasons to dive the cave and it is to recover or be recoverd. But I am a hard ass and stuburn and don't listen but then again I had to do it to prove I could.

If the water is clear it makes a great cavern dive.. nice large open cavern with lots of daylight. If the diver isn't a klutz they can keep from kicking up the bottom.. but if you DO kick up the alge on the bottom you get to see the fixh feed!

Hehe..This is what I have heard also..me being "Girth Impaired" I would probably not be able to get inside. I have started playing around with sidemount so I can fit where normal sized BM can go ..LOL

So that's why there were no miscreants occupying the reserved parking spot there
