    Default dacor regulator parts?

I have an open water rig that is comprised of Dacor Viper regulators . My second stage is free flowing slightly and I want to rebuild the reg. Does anyone know where I can purchase second stage reg parts for the Dacor?
    Thanks,

    jody

    Hey Jody,
The problem could be a HP leak in the 1st stage. The 1st stage starts to get a creep in the intermediate pressure and the second stage is venting the gas as a down stream of the regulator. Is this your Octo or your primary second stage? In either case you need an annual service and need to have the regulator checked out. Easy way to check for creep is to get an pressure gauge for the LP hose connection (dive shops have them as a tool) and plug it in. Leave it for 5 minutes and come back- see if the im pressure has moved. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to build or creep.)

If for some reason you feel compelled to rebuild your 1st stage- pop out "the 1st stage poppet" and check the condition. Please do not use a pick; if you do you can scratch the walls and ruin the 1st stage. What is recommended is to plug all the hose connections except one and then "blow out" the poppet with pressure through one of the LP connections you left open. You will need to find something to cover the center hole in the poppet. Please use caution because you are moving this under pressure- you know what that means.
Also the last time I rebuilt one of these I replaced the poppet with a factory upgraded poppet- something like $20.00 extra but the replacements seems to be hold better.

These are some recent updates from Mares/Dacor. First for the rebuild kit you should get a new mushroom (one way exhaust) valve for the second stage. Check to see if they have updated the seat in the second stage also. At one time Mares/ Dacor was replacing all “Poppet seats” for certain models. They were going from White to a Green poppet, the reason was leaking in the second stage. Gee, sound familiar?

When reassembling the second stage use lots of lubricant (silicone grease, or Krylox) in the one way assembly (which contains the o-ring, one way valve and wagon wheel looking part.) This has to be pushed in evenly to fit correctly and not act funny ie-leaking.

A side note- the front screws have a clear washers that retains them into the cover. I never screwed them all the way out unless I was ultrasonically cleaning the screws. I keep the cover and screws together which is easier to reassembly.

    Have fun. Andrew
