    Default Mexican "line wars"

Anyone have any history or information on the Mexican line wars? During my training I think I saw some of this come into play and I would just like to learn more about it. I am being vague about what exactly I saw to protect the innocent and naive (me).

There is an extensive thread over on the deco stop labeled "Tshirts" or something of that nature. There is a ton of BS to weed through but both sides seemed to present themselves in some fashion.

Do a search and you'll find it I'm sure...

Which one? This has been ongoing for quite a few years. You can start with the line arrows in the mid90s.

Attached to those line wars are HUGE egos. Best you just swim along and stay out of it. They've been going on for years. I've been diving the area for 10 years now and it's a constant.

Those wars were going on when I first went to Mexico cave diving in the late 90's and may still continue on although I believe it's not near as heated as it once was. Because of what was going on back then I came to just about never trust any line markers I saw unless they were placed by our team. Made for good "line awareness" skills!

My instructor told me to "never trust your life to a piece of plastic". His point was made for him the next day. I fully understood at that point why I needed the training.

I do admire Steve for doing his absolute best to keep me out of the BS and basically just gave me the warnings, but no commentary. I am sure he had to bite his tongue after our dive, but I respect him for that. I am way too much of a noob to get involved in that mess.
