    Default Hid-led??

I am looking at two different lights the 2009 Dive Rite LED LUX w/1000 lumens or the Dive Rite 15 Watt HID 1000 Lumen light. I was looking for some preference on the LED and HID and which would give off more light.
    Thanks,
    Jason

The Dive shop I work for only carries the Dive Rite (as far as HID/ LED can light) so it somewhat lowers the selection.

I just got certified and used the LUX. It's really really really bright in the cave but it spreads light everywhere so it's hard to signal. i.e. to okay I had to circle the whole diver in front of me instead of being able to okay on the wall/floor like everyone else. If they could make a focusable head for it I'd love it to death.

Cave Diver Arrow Salvo way to go

I have dove the Dive Rite LED for 3 yrs. Loved it. I also dive a lot of other Dive Rite gear. Recently I saw many people having issues with the newer Dive Rite lights. There lights are not as good as there other gear.
I switched to LED and went with the SALVO 12W Rebel LED. WOW What a great light. IT holds up like a tank, and has the cleanest light color in the Cave. You work at a shop. Give Berry a call at Salvo. He can probably help you with price, if you are an instructor. If yo are not teaching call anyway it would benefit your shop to pick up there line. They stand behind there products without question. Overall this light works better than the Dive Rite and I believe the workmanship is hands down better.

They have the same output...? Both at 1000 lumens. Now, if you look which one has a tighter (more focused) beam....

    1. Nothing will make a shop owner quite as mad as an employee using a dive product not sold at the shop, especially in view of customers.

Good reason for the shop to expand what brands they sell. lots of places sell both dive rite and salvo so I cant see there being an issue with the manufactures.

I own 2 dive rite LED 500 lights and like them, I would like brighter but they were in my price range so I have them. if I could do it again a 21W Salvo would be my choice instead and thats what I am planning to get if I ever get a job.

in your case I would go HID I think, I love LED but for light signals the HID is better IMO.

I think the Salvo 12W is not only very bright easily like a 10W HID or more, it has the tightest beam of all LED's I have seen, no problem for signaling at all, also the battery pack is very small and the quality is A+. The DR ones spread out way too much.

Do you think the LED focuses as well as a 10 watt HID at a distance of 50' or so in a cave?

The ones I have seen do not but I have not seen the Salvo.
