Default Change to Jackson Blue sign in process

There is a recent change to the sign in process for JB. The Sheriff's Office no longers does the sign in, you now go to Cave Adventurers. They are open from 8 am to 6 pm central time. If this is your first time diving JB you will need to fill out some emergency contact info and they will make a copy of your cave certification card. The cost per diver for the first day is $25, and then $10 for each consecutive day. For signing out after 6 pm, you call the Sheriff's Office at 850 482-9648 (Cave Adventurers will have sent them the list of divers still signed in when they close at 6 pm). If you have an annual pass, which costs $150, the added benefit is that should you want to sign it before 8 am, you can call Cave Adventurers the day before during their work hours and tell them when you plan to dive. They check the record to ensure your pass is valid, then give you the gate key code and sign you in for that day. Cave Adventurers can be reached at 850 482-6016 or 272-2346.

Does that, by extension mean, that if you are a valid annual pass holder, all of this (sign in & out) can be done by phone during normal business hours?

So how do I get access to JB if I drive from out of town after 6pm and I do not have an annual pass ?

My very limited understanding of why the process was changed is that the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and the Jackson County Commission are not seeing eye to eye on some things. The Sheriff's Office wanted to quit being the sign in/out place and that left two alternatives. The first would have been signing in and out at the Jackson County Parks and Recreation office, which is open from 9 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday. So I reckon those would have been the only hours for diving until the park opens for the general public from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The other option is what is now currently in place. I want to thank the fine folks at Cave Adventurers for stepping up and doing this. And I urge everyone to respect the 8 to 6 time frame for contacting Cave Adventurers by phone or in person. Edd and Stacy have real lives, but I'm not sure about Gordon.

Netmage, I would assume that annual pass holders would be able to phone in to CA from 8-6. Annual pass holders should be able to sign out telephonically with them at those times or the Sheriff's Office otherwise.

Chimie, I would assume that the earliest daily pass holders will be able to sign in would be CA's operating hours. The Sheriff's Office is only handling telephonic sign outs from 6 pm to 8am.

The best way to get a solid answer would be to contact Cave Adventurers with your questions.

If I want to get a dive in at JB at night, will I be allowed to call into Cave Adventurers and sign in early(before I show up) so that I can do a dive later on - with a pass?

Its definately more convenient, but not if I lose 24 hour access. Surely its better than losing access all together though.

Edit: just noticed your last post, I'll ask Edd on Friday.

Thanks for the info. Edd's is definitely a good place to sign up. More convenient during day time for sure. Just need to figure out the exact way to go after hours.
