    Default Little River 2/15/09

Dove LR today, water level down about 1' from the rock at the end of the path and the flow was down (3 fpm). Made our first dive down to the first T and headed down the Merry Go Round, to the Florida Room, and continued down the mainline. Reached the 1400' marker at the top of an incline and then headed down the other side of the incline. The gold line continued and the passage became low and wide passage. I believe we made it to about !700', but couldn't find any marked line arrows & the newest map isnt to scale and we couldn't seem to find are exact location. The dive was turned and we started are coast out the system. We spent some time checking out the FL room & the two large cracks in the roof. Upon reaching the second 2, we went right & took the serpentine tunnel back to the first T and continued back to the surface. Total dive time was 96min, 15min of deco on 100%.

Dive two we headed down the mainline and jumped to the Mud Tunnel, traveling to the EOL of the tunnel and jumped back to the mainline, still heading upstream. We reached the first T, made a left and followed the gold line to the Harper Tunnel Jump. After making the jump we head in to the tunnel. It was my first time there and it was awesome. Pasted about 4 or 5 huge white clay piles and continued in. It starts to break down and you should keep an eye out for good places to turn around. I can't tell for sure but think we made it like 600-700' in to Harpers. When we did turn the dive in the tunnel it got silty quick, but we ok'ed the line for about 50' and the vis cleared up enough to release the line. We made it back to the mainline and headed home. I forget the run time etc, Im tired and just got home.

Vis was 70-80', water temp was 71 degrees F & flow was about 3 fpm. All in all we had two great dives.

Where exactly is the worm hole jump? Heading in to the cave just as you go down the tunnel there are 2 windows in the rock on the right. We looked in and did not see a line. Is that the right area?

sounds like you were real close to the "well casing" on your first dive...think the worm hole is just oposite the mud tunnel jump... please do it sidemount to avoid trashing the floor...Ken

was the first dive with a stage or was the flow really down that much? I've only been to LR a handful of times, and that was early last summer when the flow was kicking and vis was bad.

I think the worm hole is just past the first jump to mud tunnel I think. There are two red arrows. If that is worm hole. It definitely gets tight back there on backmount.

Anyone know the access hours for LR? Coming up Friday afternoon and wondering if I will have time to do a dive there late afternoon?

Where is the well casing? I've been back in there to about 2300-2500' and didn't see it. I wasn't looking for it, but Wayne Kinnard told me that it would be hard to miss.

6 or 7 pm. It is written there depends on time of year. More likely to be 6 this time of year. Make sure you are OUT by the time posted if not you will get locked.

I had wanted to visit the well casing for a couple of years, and when I was in Florida two weeks ago I got my chance. I made the dive on my Meg and it was awesome. Flow was way down from what I remembered. In a single dive I got to visit the well casing, old deep section, harper tunnel, both sides of the merry go round, serpentine as well as a bunch of other jumps. I think I spent 3 hours in the water.

At 2500ft I estimate you were 200-300ft short. The gold line makes a hard right turn around the casing itself. You cannot miss it. After the casing, the line turns to white exploration line and things get more silty. I only made it just past the huge pile of silt and turned. It was spooky to be that far from home.
