    Default Devils Eye System Improving

Compared to last week, conditions have improved in the Devils Eye system measurably, with flow back up (but not back to normal flow) in the main tunnel, and visibility increasing to about 60 feet, with the greenish tinge abating moderately. I swam the Bone Tunnel circuit, which had less visibility, but still reasonable (and fun). Water is down in the Santa Fe, with half the ball showing over the surface over Devils Ear, and six steps above water on the stairs at the Eye.

    Anecdote of the Week:

On my way out, at the Lips, I met Rich Courtney and his client who were scootering in, and I was very impressed with their embracing the ethic of giving the right of way to the exiting diver (me). They saw me in the Lips, cut their scooters off, and moved out of the way and stopped, so I could pass easily. If only every diver had that devotion to courtesy and, indeed, safety. Way to go, guys! Hope you had a good dive.

    Thanks for the update!

Sad that when someone actually does the right thing and gives the exiting team the right-a-way, it is a news worthy anecdote.

LOL I had to let a bunch of guys go in while I was getting out of the eye on Sunday morning. The funny part is that only one or two of the guys saw me even if I had my light on and my scooter in front of me. I didn't mind the pause since I always stop there for 1-2 min in my way out. I did have a good laugh when they kept on coming and coming..... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7..... yes 7 of them.

P.S. I don't think they did anything wrong since I'm the one that moved away first but I do wonder if I had wanted to get out in a hurry... well they probably would have moved out.

How was the vis ? Last time I went to Mainland, the vis was 50'ish while it was 100+ everywhere else.

Atm its the other way around... ML is much clearer than the rest of the cave... but with each day it is improving. So won't be long now till it's back to it's glorious self.
