Default New Liquivision X1 Battery Policy

We are happy to announce that there is a new policy for the Liquivision X1 battery.

After months of experiments, Liquivision has found a method to change the battery in the X1.

The X1 now comes with a 3-year warranty on the battery, and after the warranty has expired, the X1 can be sent back to have the rechargeable battery replaced. Due to the absence of any O-rings in the X1, the battery change is complicated and costs more than 'traditional' computer battery changes. After the battery is changed, the X1 is then re-sealed through an elaborate process and pressure tested. The fee for a battery change after the warranty has expired is US$400.

    To summarize:
    - If the battery fails during the first 3 years, the battery will be replaced free of charge (shipped to Liquivision at your cost).
    - If the battery fails after 3 years, the user can send the unit in for a battery change, and pay the fee.
    - The new policy applies to all existing customers as well as all new customers.
    - The design life of the battery is 10 years, and we are still highly confident that the vast majority of batteries will provide useful dive time for that length of time.

The details can be found in the formal warranty on our website.

Congrats Eric. This policy seems fair.

Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checked by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory or defeat.

Some lucky X1 users will get their PO2 interface in September, but the mass release is in early October.
