    Default Manatee conditions 02/29/2008

Mike and I swam from Catfish to Friedman's today (85's no stage). So that tells you about the flow. The vis was awesome (hardly any particulate in the water). When we exited at Manatee , I was able to do a 40 foot stop in the exit hole with no problem.

It should be GREAT for diving this weekend , if things hold!

You might want to call the park for team limits. We were the ONLY team in there all day. (Made it fantastic)

And the Intro couple that was with us had a GREAT TIME !!!!

    Thanks!
    Jean

P.S. Mat , YES , you will have to do Manatee someday . It's like Jackson Blue tunnel size but the exact opposite color (DARK). Imagine a Gothic Jackson Blue and you will get an idea of what it is like. It EATS your light

Everybody probably figured there would be a line to get in so they all went somewhere else...sounds like Ginne from what Celia E. posted. lol

It's bad luck to be superstitious.

Manatee was gorgeous on Saturday !!!! We hit the gate about 7:15am and waited. We figured the place would be packed, but when we left about 11:30 no other cave teams had shown up. We actually had the cave to ourselves. Flow was way down from what I remember. We took a nice leisurely swim that was turned just short of Friedman's Sink.

There were a few cavern divers preparing to enter the basin, but other than that the place was a ghost town. I am not sure about today's conditions, but if it is anything like Saturday, it is definitely worth the trip !!!

Manatee is great today. Very, very low flow. In fact, if the suwannee continues to rise, I wouldn't be supprised if this one reverses. Oh, if anyone finds my mask that I dropped in Freedman sink somwhere in the goop PM me....thanks Ken...

I'm definately looking forward to it. We ALMOST drove down there today, from Tallahassee, but couldn't locate a 3rd diver from the area to help split costs on gas - LOL!
