My what big tanks you have...

My mind was wandering the other day, as it often does, and I was pondering tank size. I was just wondering what the largest (individual) tanks were that anyone had dove or knew of someone diving? I mean large as in actual physical dimensions or the rated capacity.

I suppose the physically largest I had seen would be the LP 125's, although I understand there are 140's?

Anybody have a nice set of 170's they want to get rid of?

Low pressure 131 I think? Someone let me borrow them when mine did not get filled. I had to borrow his wing too as I was not sure my OMS smaller wing would float them. Big tanks did not get very far in the cave. I seem to think I did not get as far as I normally would get. I might be wrong on the size but I remember they seemed larger than my LP 120 and weighted a ton.

I remember 140's and 190's but both were both very heavy in the water. I think they were Beauchat.

The single 140 would have weighed like doubles and the 190's were even heavier. I knew someone who dove the 120cuft version as doubles and couldn't get off the bottom of Little River using custom double wings with 100lbs of lift. He returned the tanks the next day to get his money back.

Yea- Brett has a pair of 140s that aren't heiser tanks- I dont know who made them, or if they are really the OMS 131s and he just called them 140s. Is he still on this board? I suppose I could call him.

Beuchat makes a 160. Full of air it's in the neighborhood of 60-70 lbs negative.

heiser 190's are the biggest I've heard about. 4400 psi, 8.03 inches outer diamter, 31.3 inches long (no valve), 87 lbs empty, -46.86 lbs empty buoyancy, -62.3 lbs full buoyancy!

they also make a 140 (63 lbs).

PST had an E8-149 coming in at 47.5 lbs (-12.8 lbs full buoyancy), whereas the E8-130 is 43 lbs (-10.5 lbs full buoyancy).

OMS 131 LP 2400+10%, weigh 47 lbs and are -10.31 lbs full buoyancy.

Faber 120's (3180 psi +10%) weigh in at 48.3 lbs, -16.22 full buoyancy.

You're right Skip, it was a 190. Only saw one of them before, and he was using a Super Wing and a 7mm wetsuit with a single.
