Default NOTICE - Eagle's Nest Downstream Lines

Please be advised when diving in the downstream section of Eagle's Nest that the lines have been changed. As noted in another post, a continuous goldline runs to the approximate end of the Room of Dreams at 1,350 feet.

The Lockwood Tunnel line has now also been changed.

The line ot the Lockwood Tunnel has been moved slightly further into the cave to avoid the heavy sediment area in the cave where it was previously located. The end of the Lockwood line is secured approximately one foot off the goldline, and is tied to a large rock that sits atop a boulder at a penetration distance of about 350 feet. The jump is marked on the goldline. This location carries the line along the immediate right wall of the Lockwood Tunnel (as one swims into the cave).

All redundant and broken segments of line have been removed up to and just past the Pit. Several lines still need to be removed in the back of the cave. Please be advised that work is ongoing.

A "Grim Reaper" warning sign was also deployed on the top of the hill in the ballroom. We were a bit task loaded today, so the sign might need some additonal attention to stabilize the concrete base if anyone wants to lend a hand.

More information on the ongoing work and a loosely revised map of the cave can be viewed here:

Thanks for your attention on this issue.

    Respectfully,

After speaking with *many* highly qualified individuals we found they were split into two camps re this matter. Those who wanted the Lockwood line "TEE"d" into the gold and those who wanted it a jump.

Both camps raised valid points. In an effort to do the best thing for everyone, we opted to make the jump a "reach gap", meaning that even in zero viz or with lights out the gold line is a hands reach away from the beginning (or end on exit) of the Lockwood Line.

    PEOPLE PLEASE!!!!!

THIS DOES NOT RELIEVE YOU OF THE RESPONSIBILITY TO SET A GAP REEL AND USE YOUR OWN DIRECTIONAL MARKERS. BOTH LINES ARE ON ROCK SO A REEL CAN BE PLACED IN SECONDS WITH MINIMAL EFFORT. WE ALL KNOW THE POTENTIALLY DISASTROUS RESULTS OF IGNORING OUR TRAINING AND TAKING SHORTCUTS.
