new cave question

while riding four wheelers today(i know im a redneck) i came across two sink holes i dont seem to remeber and niether does my uncle. how would one go about fiinding out whether its been dove withought the,"ones that shall not be named," finding out about it. im sure if they do they'll follow past examples and claim it for themselves only to dive.
so is there a databse somewhere of sink holes?
i refuse to divoulge my locations.
on a side note i know one has a cave cus i can see the entrance, and the other one the water is flowing in and out of i believe. both have that crystal blue color.

If you drop into these sinks with an exploratory reel and don't find a permanent line in the first 50ft or so, I would seriously doubt that they have ever been dove before. Once you have done the initial exploration you can name it yourself. When you get comfortable talking about it more, people like Guy Bryant, Wes Skiles, Forrest Wilson, and/or Lamar Hires might give you some data on prior knowledge of the area. If you could PM me a little more information I mighy be able to help you figure out what system you have found. My buddy, Harold Geick, and I have done a lot of ground survey using a tablet PC with topo maps and a built in GPS. We have found and marked may sink and springs in our data base. Some we have had the chance to dive, some not. Recently I was looking at a series of blue water sinks with flow north of Obrien and another west of the same town. Wes was very helpful in describing both these systems to me and the names of some of the Karst windows. He also suggested that I talk to Wayne Wingate, a long time cave diver that lives in the area, for more information. He went on to offer to go with Harold and I sometime when we are doing some more "woods walking".

You can contact the Florida Geologic Survey and find out if they have any information on sinks at the location you mentioned. I have contacted them before and they were very helpful and answered all my questions quickly.

But I vote you just go in there and dive it!

so, there are three sinks totall(1,2,3) i dove 1 depth to floor was 20' large overhang and small opening to the right side. opening was partially blocked by silt mound. i stuck my arm in the silt and it's at least 3' deep. it's blocking the entrance for diving. so since i was by myself i bailed. im not out to find some one willing to dig a little to see if there is a passage.
sink 2 was filled with tree's and had no over hangs or passages. sink 3 i was getting in a wonderful man began shouting naasty things at me i then proceeded to leave. im going to try to find out who was screaming at me and get permision via telephone, or see if my grandfather knows him. sink 3 looked to be a relitively recent development.
