    Default DIY Trimix Analyzer

    Hey,

So, I've stumbled across the plans for a DIY He/Trimix analyzer.

Wondering if anyone has ever built one of these and might have advice. Considering how inexpensive the parts are I think I am going to give it a try.

Parts are cheap, but electronics are hard and the math hoops this guy must have jumped through to get there must have been difficult. I wouldn't jump into this unless you feel very comfortable figuring out the failure modes and nonlinearites of the whole system. It looks like a cool project, but at a minimum I'd defintely look at some better O2 and H2 sensors for a good reliable trimix analyzer.

There's a pretty good thread on scubaboard: https://www.scubaboard.com/community...alyzer.595564/
I've also been looking at making my own . It seems like the biggest issue will be calibration.

If you are using it to verify something that you analyzed at the shop when you picked it up I say go for it. But that has no fall back and a large margin for error. If you look long enough you can come across a H2 analyzer pretty reasonably and I believe that you already have an O2 analyzer don't you? unless you are looking for it to all be in one package I wouldn't trust something like that, or I just don't trust my own workmanship to have an acceptable margin of error. If you do build one though. please let me know how it works and how difficult it was to build.
