    Default Caves in the BVI

Does anyone know of any cave dives in the British Virgin Islands?

    Thanks

There are caves on Norman Island that can be snorkeled and a cavern dive (called Joe's cave) on one of the dogs. Folks call diving these sites "cave diving," but the caves on Norman are not completely sumberged and the cavern in the Dogs might be called Joe's cave, but it isn't.

Thanks, but I do mean cave or cavern by our definition.
I'll look up Joe's Cave. I'm familiar with the one's on Norman.

    Thanks

I wouldn't discount the possiblity. Many islands in the Bahamas have caves, they just aren't well known. Some have small nasty looking entrances, covered with tannic water, but still open into nice clear cave.

Ask the locals about water holes inland. If you find anything, let us know.

Okay...I've written to some folks down there and asked around. It looks as if the only cave dive (if it really is a cave dive) known in the BVI is called Grand Central Station near Guana Island and it is described as a tunnel leading under the island itself with depths ranging from 55 to 75 feet. I don't see any mention of cave certification or extereme warnings of hazards, so I would tend to believe it's a cavern to us. I would have to see for myself and I don't have plans to be down there real soon.

I would like to thank "We Be Divin" (http://www.webedivinbvi.com) in Cane Garden Bay, Tortola, BVI for getting me on the right track to find this information. They have recently recieved permission from the government there to take small groups diving off of Anegada, if anyone is interested, and I work for The Catamaran Company, so I encourage anyone heading to the BVI to charter with us (http://www.catamarans.com).

    Thanks
