Default Which manifold post is which?

The NACD workbook says on p. 9 that the long hose to the primary regulator must be attached to the right post. The pictures on p. 37 and 95 of the manual show the long hose attached to the post behind the diver's left shoulder. Is the post behind the left shoulder considered the "right" post because it is on the right when rigging or is there some other explanation?

The general concensus is that the long hose goes on the right post...meaning the one above your right shoulder while wearing your tanks....because the left post can be rolled off as you are moving forward. The thought process is that if you donate the long hose, YOU are the one using the short hose....the one off the left post....in case it rolls off. If it rolls off, you can just reach up behind your left shoulder and turn it back on. This eliminates the possibility of an already panicked diver(or somebody with no access to your valves) of having their reg rolled off without the diver wearing the doubles realizing it.

Perhaps the pics are the mirror image of intended, this was the case in a pic in a GUE book.

The vast majority of people name posts in reference to the diver's shoulders (right post = over right shoulder), some manufacturers name posts oppositely, as you're looking at the tank(s).

Yow might want to take a second look.....I'm looking at the workbook right now and on p. 37 the long hose is run off right post and the short hose is run off the left post, which would be the one behind the diver's left shoulder (if there was a diver in that photo) and on p. 95 the diver on the steps also has the long hose running off the right post behind his right shoulder.....
