    Ken-!

***These tanks are Vinyl lined, NOT Plastic-! There is a major difference in that the vinyl does not deteriorate & will not disenegrate under extreme pressures-! They are supposed to last in-definately-!
    Thank you for posting them....

    Default Check your LDS

There might be problem getting hydro on those. I had a lined 72 that they would not Hydro anymore because of the liner.

    Curt,

These were hydro'd two years ago, & state testing station did not have any issues with them-!
The problem is with plastic lined tanks-!

The problem is with any type of lining that obscures the view of the underlying metal.

    Default 104's

Generally speaking, lined tanks are a thing of the past. The hydro station here in Charleston will not hydro any lined tank. The reason is that they have to pass the "hammer" test. That test being the tank is held up by the valve and then struck with a hammer and if it does not ring it does not pass. That is per DOT regulations.

    Default lined tanks

Are these some of the cyliders sold by Divequip back in the 70's? I bought a lined DQ 90 back in 1972. Good cylinder, never had to use much weight even with a wetsuit. I sold it a couple of years later. Glad I did. I learned that no one would hydro the things because the walls were not visible. Also, heard that there were problems with moisture getting between the liner and the wall causing rust.

    Default tumbling

I tumbled three steel cylinders (orginal hydro 1972) that were vinyl lined. it took three 8 hour days on the tumbler using ceramic chips. They were then sent out for hydro and passed. passed visual too. nice and shiny inside. been diving them past two years with no problems.
