    Default Poseidon 1st Stage Exchange

I have these two 3960 Poseidon first stages that I would love to turn into Xstreams. Ideally the new style with the OPV built in.

They're currently being used as the O2 and Dil regulators on my rebreather and are meticulously kept.

If, for whatever reason, you have a pair of Xstreams and wish you had the 5000 style regulators instead let me know and we'll see about working something out.

your 3960's have OPV's built into them.... Also highly unlikely anyone would trade the MK3's for them as the MK3's are infinitely better regulators.

Why do you think I want to make the switch?

Some people are weird, though, so I figured I'd put it out there. Worst case scenario is some people read this thread and say, "Heh! Dumbass!" and move on.

the main one was to let you know that the 3960's have OPV's built into the bottom of them, so you aren't gaining anything on that front. Just a bit better designed first stage. Step-wise change, nothing that drastic. If you were going from 2960's I could get it, but the MK3's while nice aren't nice enough to justify replacing my 3960's with them

The OPV is just a nice touch (an aftermarket OPV isn't that big a pain to add in the case of a "plain-bottom" Xstream).
They're a little easier to field strip and they're designed to run at the lower IP.
    Mostly I'm just being fussy.

my 3960's run just fine at 120psi which is what the jetstream/xstreams call for, but still curious why you think the 3960's call for an extra opv.

that is an OPV not a port plug....

So THAT'S why that regulator breathes so terribly!! And was so hard to screw the hose into!

I'm not talking about adding a second OPV anywhere. I'm talking about the older Xstreams (before the MK3 with the OPV drilled into the bottom like the 3960s have) which just have a plain, blank bottom. For those you need to add an aftermarket OPV into an LP port for use as a CCR reg or if you use a plain hose adapter instead of the Poseidon hoses.

you have 3960's with blank bottoms? I have 6 of them on Jetstreams from at least a 15 year timespan that all have them built in. I am unaware of Poseidon building any 3960 style first stages without what they call the "safety valve" on the bottom

plain blank bottom? I have never seen a 3960 without an OPV.

The earlier 2960, without the OPV don't seem to have a flat bottom.

I went from Cyklon 300s straight to Xstreams. I never liked Jets, or 5000s. What makes a nice combo is Xsteam 1sts, and 300 seconds. Sadly, I have more Xtream 2nds, from buying octo rigs, and shearing off the 1sts on a couple regs.
