Default Clean out your closets... donate to the Cave Diving Museum

"Clean out your closets... donate to the Cave Diving Museum"

That is easy for me to say... I don't have much that could be considered historical cave diving stuff... but I did have something trivial, and I just boxed it up and will ship it to the Cave Diving Museum in the morning! I did, after all, promise to send this stuff months ago... Sorry Cindy!

If you have some old stuff, let's try to preserve it for all to see. Please send or deliver it to this address:

The Cave Diving Museum & Library, Inc.
    c/o Cynthia Butler
    8401 NW 13th St., No. 194
    Gainesville, FL 32653
    (352) 378-4579

So what all is out there that people plan to send in or might consider donating? Just curious....

I know a few cave divers, that if they donated all their ancient cave diving stuff, they wouldn't have anything left to dive with....

    Thanks TJ.
Everyone out there that said they had stuff to donate, "stand and deliver...or send it through the mail !

The museum is really looking good thanks to alot of blood seat and tears from Cindy. Debbie Meeks is working on some new display cases and we are still setting up the building getting ready for movie night.

I have several commintments of gear from folks out west, including some historic gear from some of the first cave dives in California. I also have a wonderful write up on a brief history of California cave diving to go with the gear.

We really want this to be as complete as possible so ask all your old buddies and dig that gear out of storage.

We also need more historic pictures. If anyone has any they would like to donate, or just let us use, we can scan them and reporoduce from the originals.

Thanks to all who have donated time, money and enrgy so far.

The scooter and magazines are awesome Lee. Thanks for all of us!

Our first OPEN night will be the 18th for Sat. night at the movies, starting at 8pm. Bring a chair and enjoy! We are showing Wookie Exposed. It's a very cool movie about the first cave dive ever and the ongoing exploration in that cave that is located in the UK. Gavin Newman did the film and it's very good. (yes I have his permission to show it) Please remember the museum is not complete yet but we should have a few cool things to see. Entrance is by donations only, I'll pass the bucket at the end of the movie. If you have a few bucks then please donate, if not just come anyway and enjoy. There will be a few of our shirts for sale and the bookstore will be open. Cindy

    Hi Cindy

What kind of items are you looking for? I could dig through my 33years of dive gear accumulation! I will be driving down to FL in May a couple of weeks before the workshop.

    Let me know

    Dave

Hey Dave, I am looking for anything and everything. What ever you can part with. If you can't part with it and just want it on loan we will do that. It doesn't always have to be one of a kind. One man donated a scooter that had been used at Wakulla. One friend is donating line with original survey markers on it. Forrest gave me the first line arrow he placed in a cave. We are just open and can use everything. I would like some background on whatever you bring. I can use books, photos, old maps, anything that you find interesting I am sure others will also. My personal addition is a clorox bottle I used for a marker in a sink near the park. One of the neighbors put some bullet holes in it while we were on deco! He was an X vet that thought we were sneaking up on him. We are all pals now but I can actually prove I was shot at cave diving! Silly stuff can work too. We divers are allowed a little humor now and then. I have 1100 square feet that can be used to preserve our history and give us all a place to enjoy and see. Cindy Butler
