    Default Personal use compressor

The time has come to consider a compressor for personal use...looking to fill LP95's and 104's. Would prefer 220v as that is what I ran in the house. Anyone have one they are looking to unload at a reasonable price?

    Thanks,
    Don

Even if someone gives you a free compressor, you will spend more on maintenance and filters than you would buying airfills at retail. The only reason to buy your own compressor is if you can't get fills where you need to.

Just something to keep in mind...

It's a question I have pondered for my own. No shops around here bank nitrox, and I would prefer to be able to quickly fill 32%. At what point does banking become worth it? Hell, noone even has a mixing stick!

Lord1234, you might be better off buying more tanks and then make less trips to get fills. This would be cheaper than a compressor and give you an extra set of tanks ready to go.

He never stated it was for cost. Convenience is a big reason to have a compressor. I have a compressor because we live 2-3 hours from CC and have busy schedules. We usually drive up for the day and dive, and found we were always busting butt to get home after getting fills in CC. There are tons of shops bu our house, but we would drop tanks off on a monday and thursday night they were either not filled or had the wrong gas. After this happened at 3 different shops, I gave up and got a compressor.

Originally I was going to get a little coltri but everybody said I'd regret it if I didnt go bigger. I settled on a K-14 and can't be happier. With compressor, fill station, and all of the ecoutrements I will never get my money back. I stopped keeping track of how much my fill station cost me at around $9000.

Eventhough work has kept us from diving as much as we did last year, I will say its still worth every single penny. I go out in the garage and forget about all my stresses and just tinker with my compressor. Theres alot more important factors than money. Like convenience and my sanity.

Definitely for convenience. Cost is less an issue, but not having to wait 3 days for a fill of nitrox would really make my life better.

Just looking for a small compressor for convenience, considering a Rix or bauer...going to be heading to FL caves tomorrow so if anyone has one that is complete and is reasonable, shoot me a PM. I won't be on the boards much for the next 10 days however so don't take it personally if I don't get back with you right away.

A consideration is if you are going to DEMA this is an opportunity to get one cheap. Many of the companies don't want to carry back their display model, and will let it go at a good price on the last day. Had a friend that lucked up on a great deal.
