Default More about jumps... in JB

After reading through the "should there be jumps" thread, i recall the question popping into my head last time at jackson blue... i'd been looking for the jump to the middle grounds, somewhere around the 2500-2600P point and it took me several dives to find it. I look at this non marked jump in two views.... 1. it took me 3-4 dives to find it and make a successful jump to check out the new (to me) passage, and that of course was beneficial and added a level of safety. 2. on the other hand this is a jump that leads to a huge section of cave, that is some great passage to be seen. Most divers making a dive this "big" are qualified to travel those passages, as it usually takes a scooter or a stage or two to get there, and having spent four dives finding it extremely frustrated me since all I had to go off of was the descriptions other divers gave me. So... anybody have any answer to why this jump isn't marked? Do you all hate me now for bring up a topic that never seems to die? Ok, i'm done now.

I don't know about that particular jump but it is probably safe to say that a lot of jumps aren't marked because people don't want others to know about them.

Is it clear? No? Well....let's go anyways.

    Default hey

    Hey Jordan...
How's the new optima treating you? i take it you took it for a spin this past weekend? the reason I was inquiring about this particular jump is because the "middle grounds" is such a huge portion of the JB system and this seems to be the "highway" jump to get to this section.... just curious and thought it was my turn to stir the CDF pot.

The last time I was through there (a week ago) it WAS marked.

It's a single arrow with something written on it (a couple of words, I don't know what), about fifty feet past Stage Rock. The arrow may be red, I'm having a senior moment here.

Once you get into the middle grounds you better be ready. If I remember correctly there are like 19 T's in that section of cave before it takes you back to main line. If you can't find the unmarked jump then you ain't ready to go in there.

    Ryan.....

This is the most boring and non-humorous signature line ever.

There are sections of the crinoid that can be confusing. I don't know if that is the reason it isn't marked, but I have dove there several times with some of the original explorers, and they were of the mindset of jumps didn't need to be marked.
