    Default New Tech-?

I ran across a Military diver who stated that they are now diving surface supported mixed blood gases via wrist mounted digital moduals. Meaning that the diver's mix is controled by a surface attendent who inputs the data for the correct gas mixtures. This person said they are regularly diving at depths in excess of 750'-! I, for one cannot envision this type of diving technology. Do you think this is possible-? I don't know if I would trust someone else mixing my gases while I was deep underwater-!

Surface supplied (commercial) is restricted by OSHA and USCG to 300 fsw and up, after 300 you have to go into Saturation.
Usually your longest hose is 600 feet, if diving to over 700 feet you would need at least 1000 foot hose, if you were changing mixes at depth the diver would have to free flow his hat for a long time to flush 1000 foot of hose, you would have to have thousands of cubic feet of gas onboard to do something like this.
It really doesn’t make senesce to do something like this; Sat is the way it is done.

In surface supplied you don’t carry any gages and you are 100% totally dependent on the guy setting at the gas rack.

You will be surprised at how much and how many military divers there are out there. Most of them have no clue but since they are in the military it sounds good.

The military does do some awesome and innovating stuff out there but commercial divers do about the same. It is always fun to paly with a diver that says they were a military diver. Expecially when they were a SEAL or Force Recon. I know how much training they get and it in no way makes them a better diver then you or I. Now a Master Diver is differant.

Specifically meaning the few that were in the Military but they don't know what their MOS is or their DD214 is.

Hahah--OK. Well I have a DD-214 but not a MOS. MOS is for enlisted only.
I had an ODC, do you know what that is?

Yeah I too know a LOT of SEALS who don't know where Coronado is And a few "Navy Divers" who do not whatt SurDO2 is. Lots of 'em out there.

I thought you were stating that real military divers knew nothing about diving.

Since I was just a lowly 5345 and a 5343 I would love to see how you play with divers...

Dang!! Now you've done it Slim. You done poked the old Hornet's nest of Military Veterans. It might be time for us to pile on for a good old fashioned Blanket Party. Which material would you prefer? Wool or the classic Cotton shelter half? Nah. I understood what you meant.
I agree Jim. There are quite a few wannabe heros out there.
I myself was a diver for Delta Force, TF-160, SAS, SBS, GSG-9, and the Mossad. Unfortunately I washed out of S.E.A.L. training due to a terrible sand rash and a painful hangnail. Doh!!!
Now if anybody asks, My Dog ate my DD-214.
