My only comment is that the Mayor of Alachua told me it wasn't going to happen over ten months ago. Money and Politics won out, I guess. Since we can't even stop a dairy farm from being built over the upstream Cathedral system, I don't hold out too much hope here. For one thing, Pete Butt did that dye trace that showed the water going out at Hornsby Springs. I guess that is what makes them think they won't be hurting the watershed by allowing building in that area. There is a lot more money involved here than other areas and Alachua is hungry for tax dollars right now. I know the locals have been fighting it tooth and nail. I was told they bought the land on the other side of I-75 but I guess that was BS also. It will be over the downstream end of the caves so it may not affect anything for quite some time. We always knew that area would end up developed. Cindy

That's nothing new when it comes the government they want us to conserve water and keep it clean while they muck it up. We preserve they destroy. I have not dove there, hope to someday.

There will also be lots of shopping carts around....and, unfortunately, I bet many will end up in the sink. Some kids(and even some adults) get a kick out of that type of thing.

and some people (such as myself) enjoy throwing bricks at people who throw carts into our sinks
so if we have enough bricks and a steady flow of divers at the sink, this might not be a problem

I prefer a pellet gun, myself.. Then they're like cats when you spray them with a water gun.....they don't have a clue where it's coming from, but they know they don't like to get hit when they do something wrong..
