    Default AntiSocial

So is anybody going to be at Jackson Blue this Saturday? I know a few of us will be there, but there hasn't been much talk of it lately.

It looks like Wilma will be well south of us, but we might get a little rain on Sunday.

I talked to Margaret of Parks and Recreation yesterday, and she said she'd have someone come by early Saturday to unlock the restrooms. She asked about non-divers, and I said there probably won't be more than a couple (which is a couple more than she would like, since we're not paying to rent the park). If any do show up, they won't be able to get in the water, since there won't be a lifeguard on duty.

I'll be bringing a bunch of soft drinks left over from the July social, but I don't know about food. Ron White had talked about burgers, but I don't know what he decided.

Now if I can remember what I did with that CDF banner!

Default From Orlando to JB & Marriana for the Anti-Social.

Ok, I have an empty van w\3 extra seats available, headed to JB, early this coming Friday morning. I plan to spend Friday somewhere between the Jug hole & Luraville + stay overnite in Mayo. I want to leave for Marianna early Saturday morning from Mayo.
    Anyone looking to share expenses-?
    Let me know.

I don't know if I can get there or not this weekend - its "Mullet Festival" weekend and family things may interfere.

I'm working on it - if I do get there, it'll be one of those last minute deals.

What's the story on Edd's for gas? I know he's on restricted hours during the day - are we ok for the weekend on gas, or do I need to come with everything full and multiple sets of dubs?

Edd said they would be open regular hours Saturday and Sunday.

Cool - thanks.... that takes one thing off the list of "musts"

Kinda hard to dive with empty dubs!

Edd has Mark coming in to keep things going while he is in Oregon for his bro's wedding. Mark is still in school, so I have no idea what time he might show up Friday, but he should be availble to do fills all day Saturday and Sunday.

    Default help a brotha out

Speaking of Mark, don't forget to tip him (that is, if you think he does a good job). Anyone who has ever worked in the dive industry will understand. This will keep him happy and therefore keep your gear safer and everyone will end up happy in the long run. Plus, it will give him incentive to show up on time and treat you well.....etc

I think a lot of people may neglect to do this because it is not common practice for cave divers to tip.

Is it clear? No? Well....let's go anyways.

I think that comes from the fact that you don't usually tip a shop owner (in any business), and most dive shops are small and thus the owner is involved in some way in what you get/do.

This is a different situation though - Edd's making an accomodation for us on a weekend when he's out of town. I totally agree in this case - slipping the guy some beer money is definitely a good idea if the service is good....

I was a tank monkey for ten years and never got a tip for a fill.

I have been a regulator monkey for nine years, and have gotten three tips (two from the same guy).

But I get a paycheck, so I never really think about it. I guess if it bothered me, I'd go get a real job.
