My name is Shirley Kasser Creech and I approve this message. Well, at least one of me does, anyway. Maybe. Fire. Sharp things. Squirrel!
Shirley you're not serious? No, I'm not, but do stop calling me Shirley.
Please forgive a stupid question from a mouth breather:
After spending a few minutes skimming thru your VERY complete examination of the cave diver's id:
How does the cave diver differ from the general population?
How do cave divers tend to be more disfunctional than the population in general?
Is it possible that cave divers are just a general cross section of America who have a few extra bucks, and a love of speleology?
Great Job! (just wish I could understand what you are saying)

Bill, is there a special tool required for dyadic adjustment? Is that something I can get from Snap On?
Congratulations, Bill.

I'd like to know where Jill got her data for this claim. By 2007, in America alone,
there were 368 cave diving fatalities (Buzzacott, Zeigler, Denoble, & Vann, 2009). The
documentary Ben’s Votex (Heinerth & McClellan, 2012) describes how cave diving has
the highest ratio of death per overall participants of any extreme sport,
Since just 2004, there have been 559 Sky Diving fatalities. Granted there are 35,000 sky divers, but 368 deaths since 1970 (Cave Diving), versus 559 deaths since 2004 (Sky Diving), I don't think the math adds up. I would really like to know where Jill's data came from, or was it just some pie in the sky made up number like, "1 in 11 rebreathers sold results in a fatality".
Yeah, I thought it was 72.8%, but it pisses me off when people who are viewed as authorities and/or professionals on a certain subject do it. Then it gets published in a paper or dissertation as fact, then I play hell trying to get underwriters to insure you guys based on some idiot's idea that 1 in 11 rebreathers kills someone. I guess it sounds cool to make cave diving or rebreather diving out to be the upper echelon of extreme sports, but my opinion is that stupid claims (especially ones that are so easily verified) only hurts our sport and our access as divers to certain needs as humans.
Ok, I'm off my soap box. Sorry.
Superlyte, I agree with you 100%. Luckily, Lynn looked into my claims that cave diving is as safe as you make it (she's a very smart lady) and she has never tried to get me to quit or even curtail my cave diving.
