    Default Go pro camera depth

Has anyone used their Go Pro camera at deeper depths than those reccomended by the manufacturer(60 meters-174 feet)? If so, how deep have you taken it? Anyone with flooding problems? What depth did it flood at? All info and stories will be helpful. Thanks.

A little math help is needed here. 60 meters is about 200 feet, not 174. I've had mine at about 75 meters with no problem with the stock housing. But if you're planning more depth, you should get a deep housing from Golem or one of the others available.

Most housings will survive greater depths than listed. Still this is a good question to prevent flooding, why do the same mistake over and over.
I flooded two sony cameras as the housing did not seal correctly and the o ring twisted while closing the housing. Both happened within the first few feed but still to late as some water intruded.
Once sealed they will seal even more the deeper you go. The recommended depth insures the button are working, going past this I never had a leak but buttons missaligned and were not functional.
Of cores there is a depth that the housing will fail and crack/leak.
Good luck, worst case take the housing down without camera and see if it will stand the pressure.

I have had the Stock housings to 240 fsw with no issues. The problem is the buttons compress after 200 fsw and stop working. Like Huxley said you can take the housing down with out the camera, but you will need to reinforce the housing with something to support the inside of it.

I've taken mine to 250' several times without any leaks, but as someone pointed out the buttons become impossible to operate beyond 200'

Since almost two years I have an aluminium "UK Germany" housing for my Gopro 2. No problems at 60+ meters.

Recently I flooded my GoPro due to my own mistake. Surprisingly I was able to revive the camera and monitor after soaking 24 hours in sweet water and then extended drying in warm place.

I dove with mine to 264 feet. It was still working well. The latch was undone and would not latch because of compression (which also is the case at 100 feet with it).

And sweet water is what? I'm presuming not just sugary water.

I just bought a six pack of sweet water and threw my gopro in. Are you saying I did it wrong?
