Did anyone forget to pull their primary reel at Peacock Springs It is a Hollis Sidewinder style.
Whoever installed it bisected the opening and its really a hazard.
Putting on Flame Protective clothing now.
Thanks

They probably left it intentionally because of its superior quality and ability to stand the test of tech divers. LOL!!
I wish the line laying quality was as good as the reel quality.
LMAO....

I've heard that if you leave it in your car for a few days it'll warp and not work correctly. I've never seen it happen but i've heard of it.
I'm not sure what caused it, but mine warped so badly it took two hands to turn. I contacted Hollis and they were great about it - I returned it and they shipped me a new one pretty quickly.
It's subtle but I think the new reel has a few minor design changes that make me think it might stand up better to cave abuse.
Saturday morning there was a class from the dive shop in wakulla / crawforville. Or I think it was a class. Saw some line drills.
Perhaps they left it there.
I was diving Peacock last week and there was a primary left in place... and it was a mess. We "cleaned" a couple of loops but left it there. Certainly do not think the owner is still in the cave!

It was a serious design flaw. The lock washer they used as a bushing caused the spool to warp when tightened down. I figured it out while teaching deco class. Student with that reel blew a bag and off he went from 20 feet. Guess its good for the maker he wasn't deeper and obligated to a ceiling!
Thanks! Someone at JB told me that about six mounths ago and it's just been in the back of my mind. Good thing I have a dive rite reel.
Too funny.... I saw it Thursday.... Yeah, I thought the line placement was great.... and deserved a picture.... If its still there tomorrow, I'll pull it and leave at Cathy's.
