I wasn't quite sure where to post this since its relevance to cave diving is "one step removed".
But here's the deal:
As far as new technologies or revolutionary product announcements ....ah there weren't any but that wasn't so bad.
Of course the usual "reef diving " trip promoters were their, the recreational promoters were there but here what I got out of it:
1) Light MOnkey had a huge presence and it was first class all the way with a sitting area and every luxury possible given the venue. I introduced everyone that was at the booth to two new cave divers (cavern set) and Joel, Corey, Ted and Derik all welcomed them gave up good advice and never once mentioned a Light MOnkey product, if thats not cool nothing is.
2) Santi was slammed, people were lining up to get measured, sales were innumerable.
3) tecdivegear.com is bringing in a new computer, its smaller then a liquivision, tested to over 1000 feet, the full function bottom timer version will be between 3 and 400, +100 for deco trimix and CCR (the base price is accurate but dont hold me to the upgrade price, its a single malt night), its upgradeable online, a very cool product.
4) Innerspace or Megaladon: They had the new Pathfinder and the Meg plus the new electronics suite that will be available on the Meg in 6 Months, these electronics are VERY cool and are user configurable in function and LOCATION, you can swap the controller from the left to right because the connection is OCEAN DEPTH rated, that means it was built for and can handle depths that are as deep as the ocean gets, a much needed replacement for those POS fischer connectors.
5) KISS; The side mount rebreather looks interesting and the build quality has certainly improved, I have an original KIT KISS, no serial number and this is a huge improvement.
6) Shearwater: Expect some very cool upgrades in the next fews months, as usual they set the standard for simplicity, innovation and function.
Cheers,
Jon
