Manatee Springs 15 July

I got to dive Manatee with Chip and Billy yesterday. It was a great dive and pretty awesome I was able to get back in a cave. It's been too long! We entered at Catfish and the duckweed was horrible. The nice thing was the water was waist deep at the platform at the bottom of the steps. Once inside the basin, the vis was about 20 ft or so. It cleared up once we hit the cavern zone and even got a little better in the cave. I think I would say the vis was about 40-50 ft in the cave.

The first dive, I got to play with a scooter, and the second dive I took the new camera setup into the cave and got to try out some different settings. So what I learned from this dive... I need a scooter. I need some more strobes for the camera. And since my buddies (yes, both of them) were on rebreathers, I need a rebreather. Anyone want to buy a kidney???

You guys must have been the group there at 8AM, right? I wound up parking next to you when we came back the second time (my buddy forgot some gear, we had to drive back to Gainesville to get it).

Manatee is spanking right now.. We swam ~200' past friedman's without hitting thirds, great dive.

We were there at 8 am. The first one through the gate actually. It was a good dive, and I'll probably be back soon.
