Northwoodsdiver took me into Harvey's the other day and what a great dive. As I understand we were lucky to have some great visibility at least to the crystal room jump and on into that room. It got a bit murky down the gold line toward the clear room (i may have that name wrong) where there was a bit of a halocline, will have to go back with some datasondes and get some salinity measures in the system. I was shocked by the size and quantity of the albino crayfish in the system and made a wet note to bring a catch bag next time to do some gathering for a very special exotic boil (only kidding, a bit of poetic license or maybe creative fiction). All in all a most enjoyable dive and i am looking forward to going back and heading in the opposiet direction for a look at the pit...maybe not the equivalent of the pit in dos ojos but sounds like it would be worth checking out.
One additional thing I would like to mention here is the graciousness of the landowner to allow the wdc to dive there and I would like to contribute some money (and others might want to as well) to the wdc so that they can improve the access with some nice steps and some regular litter control. As is, if you inspect the area that is being used by cave divers to access the system there is some serious erosion that will only be exacerbated with continued access as the bank is relatively steep and will only be further eroded via rain events. Some steps would serve to help conserve the resource both for the landlord and for cave divers. As I understand it diving Harvey's is a benefit to having a wdc membership and I would hope that the club would help to conserve the resource.
