    Default Barbados cave diving?

Hey all- it's been a while- I exchanged my 70 degree underwater caves for -20 degree mountains full of snow (I moved to Alaska a year ago)- but I am taking a vacation to barbados and was looking to see if there was any cave diving on the island? I'll be there Feb 25-march 1, probably only time for 1 or 2 dives.

Can anyone give me any leads on caves to dive, locals to contact, or a dive shop I could rent gear and cave dive from? Any help would be appreciated!

I haven't heard of any, but almost every Caribbean island I have visited has some. The locals don't know that tourists might be interested in diving inland.

On Grand Cayman years ago, I was asking around, and a cab driver told me his neighbor had a sinkhole on his property. We went to look, and there was tannic water in it. Since we were there, we dove it anyway. The tannic water only was about 10' deep. We went through a thin hydrogen sulfide layer, then broke out into clear water. It was decorated with stalactites, just not quite as spectacular as Mexico or the Bahamas. We turned at 500', because the stalactites were close together, and we didn't have any exposure protection, not to mention we were only on single 80s. The cave still goes. The sad part is after that, the landowner started using it for a septic system The diveshop owner reported him, but I never heard back if he quit doing that.

I am not aware of any underwater caves in the Barbados either. Poke around while you are there and ask the local fishing boat captains. They would know of any holes or fresh water vents. You could also drop John Mylroie a note, he might know something about this:

John has been to this area before, surveying the local flank margin ("dry") caves. There are also a couple of commercial caves on the island.
