    Default Madison has re-opened

There was a comment that Madison is open for diving in another thread, but it presently is open for swimming only. A site assessment will be done soon to determine if minimal conditions have been met to open for diving, but the water is still milky.

Edit: this is old information, Madison re-opened late Friday (7-13-12)

The NFSA will send a dive team there today or tomorrow to dive the cave and report to the park manager our findings. The NFSA works closely with the park manager and he has requested we take a look.

"Marc and I dived Madison blue spring today and found very poor visibility in the cavern zone and lots of very thick silt on the bottom. Once past Martz sink it cleared up to 50 to 60 feet and once past the Half-hitch the visibility was 100 feet or greater. Cracking Blue. I Saw no particulate in the water whatsoever past half hitch.

The park manager has agreed to open Madison Blue spring to all but cavern divers starting immediately.

In some places the silt mounds are 6 inches deep and visibility can be reduced drastically in a moment." Re posted from Facebook, by Jim Wyatt

We dove Madison yesterday (7/16/12) and the cavern zone was 20ft vis, beyond that 60-80ft vis maybe more. Id call it excellent. The flow is higher than last time I was there.
