Location lost: Round about In Live Oak

Tonight while driving into Live Oak for dinner, my set of doubles fell out of the back of my truck. I did not realize it had happened until after eating dinner at Pizza Hut. Walking out to truck, my buddy and I notice that the tail gate was down and that my doubles were gone. My first thought was that someone had opened the tail gate and done a quick grab. I called the police, but while talking to them, one of the Pizza Hut delivery drivers reports seeing dive gear in the middle of the road of the round about. description matched my gear. By the time I got there, it was gone. Hoping it gets turned into a dive shop or police tomorrow.

If anyone knows anything, my name is Michael Wheat and I am staying with Cave Excursions or just leave me a note here.

Wish me luck. Praying someone turns it in and that by some miracle gear is still in serviceable shape.

Oh man, I'm so sorry. :-( Hopefully whoever found it is an honest person. I know how it feels to lose gear. I lost my brand new $400 camera fresh out of the box on the first ocean dive I took it on. Good luck.

Good luck on getting it all back! I sure hope it's in the hands of one of the many very honest and awesome people in the world. I'd definitely post a flyer about it at all the dive shops in the area. And I'd check with my homeowner's insurance policy. Makes me feel ill just thinking about it

    Quick update.

No luck as of today. Dive shops notified. Report filled with Sherrif. Talked to pawn shops. While still being an optimist that I am going to get lucky, I am working with home owners insurance just in case.

Please continue to keep your eyes out. In the mean time - I'll try to soak in the peace of cave country above ground!

Default Did you put up any signs in the local gas stations or restaurants?

Even honest non-divers may not know where to go to find the owner of missing equipment.

I know of a case when a moron (that being me) left his drysuit hanging on a rack at the P1 parking lot and just drove home. Good thing that somebody named Shirley found it and delivered it back to Orlando.....

Check craigslist as well. You may even post a reward on craigslist for anyone with information leading to its return. If someone found it and is planning on reselling it, they probably think they are pretty lucky and have ran their mouth off to someone about it.

Any chance you have serial numbers recorded?

You might try an ad in Suwannee Democrat (1-800-600-4838 ext 1297 or nancy.kilpatrick@gaflnews.com) and/or the Lake City Advertiser (386 752 8280). Most people around here are decent folks.
