    Default Crumbly Cave

so we went searching for the cave everyone knows is there and we found it. The entrance was narrow, little more than a single file hole, but it widened once inside. Deep and deeper there was not much time on the nitrox we carried, and not much time remaining in our search plan. It was crumbly. Black, dark, fungi-covered, silty breakdown, like the breath of a dying man. but beneath the black mossy yuck was soft white stone, as soft as wet chalk. They say it caves in every so often, but it was all black-covered filmy stuff and obvious that new breakdown would be bright white. Too soon, minutes over the planned time limit, but within gas limits, we turned the dive. the five-minutes over contingency plan kicked in and we lingered at extra-long deco stops, then surfaced grinning like fools at our success.

sounds good, I especially liked the "Black, dark, fungi-covered, silty breakdown" part, I like those kind of caves the most.

Ok the crumbly collapse part is not really reassuring but weird, dark bacteria covered caves are so much more exciting that regular boring white decorated typical caves, IMO. I like caves with character
