Default Madison Blue Spring open to cavern diving

Just now we received word from the park manager at Madison Blue that cavern diving will be allowed. He also informed us that he will have this added to the parks' website.

The NFSA thanks the park management for listening to our members' comments and concerns and also for opening Madison up for cavern diving.

We also hope and expect that cavern divers will always dive within the limitations of their certification and training. Part of the discussion that transpired between park management and NFSA BoD members involved explaining to park management that cavern divers holding cavern certification cards are formally trained and aware of the limitations placed on them by their certification. We also informed management that we feel cavern divers are responsible enough to dive within those limitations.

Thats good news for all present and up and coming cavern divers. Thanks to the NFSA for their help with this obvious oversight and quick resolution.

    DITTO!! That's great news!!

OK Cavern Divers, the ball is now in your court. The Florida State Park System have given you what we asked for. It's now up to YOU to show them we are responsible. It's our privilage to loose at this point.

It's bad luck to be superstitious.

That's awesome news! Thanks to the NFSA for being available to the public and for speaking to the park about this topic. I know that I appreciate this resource and will continue to respect the limits of the cavern cert. Thank you to everyone who helped!

FWIW, the cavern looks great right now. and there is a new habitat in the middle of it. I wouldn't recommend breathing the air in it, though. Keep an eye on the entrance, you can go around the corner, and loose sight of it pretty easily.

They are still laying line way in the back. I am not sure, but there is at least one permit to explore there, and maybe more.
