    Default NiTek Hack

Have any of you byte heads figured out how to extract data off the NiTek Duo/Tusa IQ-700 using Windows 7? It seems there are no drivers for Windows 7. I've extracted the data off using a XP machine, but it's a pain. I was hoping someone has found a driver or other hack that would allow me to use my Windows 7 laptop.

You can try this. I haven't tried it with what you are asking about, but I know a bunch of the admin guys here at work are using this fix with software that won't run in Win 7. Hope it helps.

I tried XP Mode/Virtual PC, but the Tusa software would not install. It throws an exception saying the installer will not run using remote desktop. I tried just installing the driver and had the same issue. Not sure how to run VPC in "console" mode.

What version of W7 are you running? If it's home you might upgrade to a higher version (eg. professional). Bill

Gibby on Scubaboard sent me a version that works with my N2ition 2 with Windows 7 basic. I never could get it to work with Vista. Look in the Zeagle forum and you will see a long thread on this issue. The link to the working software is there as well.

I had to get a new computer last month (due to an unfixable short somewhere in the 2005 Windows XP laptop I had), so I went with a new version of my older HP Entertainment Notebook (with the new machine running Windows 7 Professional with the virtual XP mode).
I have tried and tried to get the software to run to download dives from my Nitek HE and nothing seems to work so I have pretty much given up on it. (And this is with the help of my father-in-law who does IT work for the University of Florida.)
If anyone thinks they have a real workable answer please post it.

Does the N2ition 2 have the same interface cable?

Wow, a 21 page thread! It looks like Diving Log 5.0 will support all versions of the NiTek. http://www.divinglog.de/english/features/import.php

Diving Log 5.0 uses the 3rd party driver created as a result of the thread above. I've been playing with Scubase and have been able to import profile data and associate it with a dive, but now I'm going to check out Diving Log 5.0.

I think I did. The N2ition/Nitek Duo/IQ700 are the same Seiko computer with the same download cable. The solution on the Zeagle thread at ScubaBoard has a workable solution

I think chicken is right, but I won't be able to test the download cable til I get home later this evening. You don't need to read all 21 pages of that post. Everything you need is on the last 2 pages.
