I recently acquired a UV-26 and find myself in the market for a conversion kit to turn it into a UV-18.
Anybody got one they are lookin' to sell?

Friend of mine just pointed out how stupid that above post sounds; however, Suzie may just be able to help you out. Mention you posted for a used one on here. Just a thought since I saw one laying on their floor last time I was there.
My batteries in my 18 body have worn out. (My 26 batteries are fairly new.) I am considering buying a UV-N37 conversion, in which case I would have an 18 conversion and a 26 conversion for sale.
I know this doesn't help you at all, but I threw it out here as something to think about...

You might as well just go ahead and sell me the 18 conversion now then. You won't be using it with bad batteries anyway. Besides that, you are gonna want the longer burn times with the 26 body anyway. You only cave dive, right?
Should I go ahead and get new batteries coming for this?![]()
18 bodies aren't just for the ocean. If you're a girlie man, it's MUCH easier to carry an 18 down the steps at Little River. Heck, even Manatee calls for an 18 over a 26.
(I've been told I'm not a girlie man, I'm a little girlie man.)

Sludge, how'd you wear the batteries out?? Your kit is pretty new, right? My 26 batteries are 5 years old and still test at 85 minutes on a burntester...

Sludge,
Not to speak ill of a Submerge product, but I was not happy with the shelf life of my N 37. 3.5 years and they are junk. Probably only around 100 dives...maybe less. I would pick Rodney and Suzie's brains about what they have seen in terms of shelf life...not cycles. Sure you have done this already, but as a former 37 owner, I had to speak up.
If you will use it every weekend a couple of times, then the investment vs returns increases greatly. But if it sits around, it becomes very expensive over the life of those batts.
Good Luck,
Bob
I did talk to both of them. What they told me was NiMH batteries need to be used regularly. If you only dive every other month or so, you need to stick with SLA batteries. I try to make two to four dives every other weekend, and they said that would be what NiMH batteries need.
