Anyone dove Peacock lately? Just wondering about conditions?

It was great Christmas week. There have been no big weather events, so is should still be the same.

We dove it a week ago (12/30). OG first thing in the AM was amazing clear, a slight blue tint to the water and you could easily see from the platform to the bottom of the basin as the duckweed had receded a long ways away from the platform. Cave was the same clarity.

We dove P1 (both directions) in the afternoon. It was fairly clear, but a little milky. This was probably due to the large number of divers. Although we never crossed anyone in the caves, there was always several teams in the basin when we entered or exited and the parking lot was full. First thing I thought when we went towards the Peanut tunnel was I wondered if my light was woking right as it "seemed" a lot darker.

Edit - It wasn't "too" cold for a wetsuit, although the first surface interval in the AM was not ideal in the 40F temps. I ordered a TruWest Dive Parka this week that should eliminate that issue in the future. We did change our original plan from Mon/Tues to Weds/Thur to avoid the 20 degree AM temps earlier in the week.

Dean, I did Peacock 1 on 1/2/11, it wasn't as clear as it has been the last couple of times me and you dove it, but it was still pretty nice. Of course is rained all day long. Sometimes hard. But all in all, a good day.

Helpful Link on Cave Conditions at Peacock

If no one has posted about Peacock being blown, and it hasn't been raining hard in Georgia, then Peacock is probably pretty good. When Peacock goes, you'll see multiple threads bemoaning the fact that we are stuck diving Ginnie and Manatee for the coming weeks/months, and then more posts talking about how we shouldn't need a line committee to clear it before it opens again, and how cave diving training quality has dropped.

Can't wait to get back into the water. Vegas was a great way to start the new year, but there was no diving. Toured Hoover Dam, which was nice.

Don't know if I've seen clearer in basin.

Dove via Peanut tunnel to Water Hole and you could seen the trees and rays of light: pretty sight.
