The dives look amazing, but no way I have the stones for water/weather that cold!
Excellent-Thanks you once again for sharing this in so much detail.Fascinating work and a really beautiful cave.
I REALLY look forward to the film release.
Safe cave diving to you all
A short dive report from the first week...
It was a ruff way in to the cave this year... first we had some problem with the snowmobiles to get to the sinkhole. When we finally got there and we opened up the ice to get to the cave the first divers could not enter. The sand and gravel in the sinkhole was all the way up to the roof. The first 4 dives were spent in the hole just to dig, after that we could enter and check the line from last year. It was only broken in one spot so we could quickly continue in the end of line and check the condition of the cave. Everything looked good!
Dive day 2 and 3 I spent with a TV crew from a national wildlife show so form me it was not that much diving, just 2 short dives in the sinkhole with the TV host. Day 4 I got sick... was in bed all day and tried to hydrate. Dive day 5 was my last day for diving for me. I had 2 60 minute film dive planed and both were lucky. The first went to end of line in the new area we just started to explore this year. This part of the cave is getting bigger and bigger... We think that we found one of the main tunnels in the system. These tunnels are 4x4 meter (12x12 feet). On my last dive my plan was to get some good shot of the wildlife in the cave... and I think that I got some good ones on the fish we got there.
Ok... that was just a short report... I will post some more as soon as I get some info from the team that is there for one more week.
this is some photos from the first week

really cool pictures. thanks for sharing.
I admire you all for diving in such cold water. I stayed out of the water all winter complaining about the 30 and 40 degree air temperatures.

Is you RB sidemount? if not you would not enter with it... the opening this year was 10 cm befor we started to dig, after 4 dives of digging we hade an opening that was 25-30cm and we could enter. after that it is sidemount restriction after restriction for about 60 meter (180 feet). then it's getting bigger... a SM RB would be nice...
We use electronic heated west (most of us) to get dive time more than 60 minutes... the cold water is the biggest risk in this cave... Last week we didn't have any big freezing regs, just some smal ones on the surface (negative 20 - 0 C air temp and 0,2C water temp).
Cool pics! What is that rolled up habitat in pic1? Any more info on that?
