    Angry Buford Getting Trashed!!!

    A buddy and I went to scout the path to Warm Spring today and used Buford as a way point.

    Let me just say that I am appalled that somebody is dumping broken tile and paver samples around the spring. It looks as if somebody is attempting to back fill the mucky sections of the swamp with construction debris.

    There is also very deep tire tracks in the mud down the fire road and what looks like where somebody took some of the lime stone gravel from the road improvements going on around the WMA and dumped in at the end of the dry trail.

    I know its been a long time coming but I feel like we can officially kiss the beauty of this site good bye.

    Maybe we should run down there tomorrow and carve our names in the walls before anybody else gets to it first.

    I know these pics are blurry but they were taken from a soaked cell phone camera.
    I'm sure you still see my point.

    Sounds like a good project for some cave divers. That type of thing leaves positive image of cave divers by the land owner.

    anyone know how to contact the land owners and let them know what's going on with the trash, rutted road etc.?

    if ( $clue == 'none' ) { read ( sig & avatar rules | forum rules ) && search ( forums | google ) }
    if ( $answer == 0 ) { post->question }

    Good way to get a site closed! If the landowner is told the site is being trashed,and he has to clean it up,then a fence with a no trespassing sign is the easiest solution. My thoughts are if some cave divers who use the site,and appreciate the privledge to dive the site,then take the initiative and hold a clean up,get some fill dirt for the ruts. We can take the "not my problem,and I didn't cause the mess attitude",but by showing concern for the sites we access,it gives the landowners more respect for cave divers,and makes getting access easier.

    I think the question was to let the land owner know that we cleaned it up. After all if we clean it up and no one ever knows about it, then it won't affect any image change.

    The landowner is the State of Florida.

    I was there on 8/29. I'll assure you I didn't leave anything behind. I would have taken some out but I didn't come prepared, plus I had to hike through the swamp to get there. Next time I'll show up with a garbage bag.

    BTW I didn't see that much trash when I was there.

    If you cleanup try to get a picture of everything you thing you take out. When I helped out with the ReefRakers we'd pile it all up and do a photoshoot. When bringing a ton of garbage out of a place, the pictures send the right message.

    Hey ScubaRob. The tile and crap was on the approach to to Buford. If you didnt see the tile it must have just been dropped there this week.
