I just wanted to let everyone know that a variety of sensors are being installed in Peacock and Madison to study the effects of river intrusion on the cave systems. The work is under permit from the DEP and is part of a larger research project being conducted by myself and others in the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Florida. If you happen to see anything 'odd' hanging in the caves - please don't disturb it and please pass the word. This study will run for the next two to three years. At some point, I hope to write a short article about our cave research for UWS.
