Default What's the temps this time of year?

Tonight I start packing for next week's trip ... figured I should ask.

What's the water temps at Ginnie and Peacock this time of year? In August they were 72 and 70, respectively. I have no idea how much (or even if) it varies from season to season. I have three different weight undergarments ... want to make sure I bring the right one.

And what kind of above-water temps do y'all get down there this time of year? What kind of weather should I be planning for?

Every time I have ever been there (in various seasons and years) the water is within a degree or 2 of 70 F.

    Bob,

Pack the way you always do for the water temps, it's the air temps you may need to pack differently for......tho I've heard it was in the 80s over the weekend.

Like everyone said, water stays the same temp year round. Check The Weather Chanel for air temps. Just do local weather for High Springs, FL, or Branford, FL.

Air temps this time of year vary greatly... anywhere in the 40s thru the 80sF... and it can go from one extreme to the other in a matter of a day.

Go to weather.com. Put in Mayo or High Springs and click on the ten-day forecast. They're surprisingly accurate.

Me too, Carl ... I've got a living room full of gear to organize this evening, and I'm totally pumped for the caves.

    Default Local Temps

Water temps at most area springs are around 72 degrees (as always) give or take a degree or two depending on how far north in Florida you are.
The weather for this week in the Gainesville area is mid 70s during the days and mid to high 50s overnight.

Since when?!? I've had, maybe, 50% accuracy on any of the weather forecasters. The local ones are the worse!

Bob, it was in the 80s Friday and Saturday with 90% humidity. I was sweating. Sunday it dropped into the 60s and has remained there. Today, they are forecasting 74 where I am, but it was colder this morning than yesterday morning, so I don't believe it! The water temperature in the springs doesn't change based on the air temperature.
