    Default Afternoon Dive at Peacock

    Grand Traverse (via Peanut Line)

    2 Megalodon set point 1.2
    1 Evolution set point 1.3

We started out from Orange Grove basin where visibility in the water column was limited for the first 10' due to algae bloom. There was 50-60 visibility below bloom. Tree limbs at entrance to Orange Grove have shifted therefore making the entrance a little easier. Once inside the cavern zone we noticed very low flow. However large amounts of particulate matter on the floor of the cave. While there was no percolation from exhaled air due to the rebreathers, the particulate on the walls and floors was easily disturbed and remained in the water column for a considerable amount of time. Visibility in Orange Grove was 30' with a slight tannic water color, but overall clear. We ran a reel through Challenge sink and noticed an immediate change in visibility which decreased to 10-15' at best. The water was considerable more tannic on the Challenge to Olson line. We jumped on to Peanut line and followed Peanut line out with a 20-30 ft visibility and a slight tannic tint and large particulate. No detectable flow. Surfaced at Peacock Basin to find 20- 30' clear visibility in the basin.

    113 minutes
    69 ft max depth
    No Deco requirement

I am glad to see Dirk Taking advantage of his time here. We dove with him last Saturday at the Mill Pond.
