The Swiss Bhuelman Tables were discussed in depth in "Deeper into Diving" by John Lippman and his algorithms widely used in dive computers from the 1980's until today.

Are those the tables you are talking about?

    It seems so.

I think I still see it (rarely) on some dive store shelves.

Big thick book. Gives the details, rules, examines the saftey and the means of forming most of the dive tables made from the 1980's and earlier. Too early for bubble theory though

Also a lot of dive theory and physiology, etc.

    Default deco tables

    Whew---Gary,

A lot of information here-! I appreciate the resources. I believe I always dove the Swiss tables, while diving air, and thus never had any 'hits', & to go one step further, I always restricted my ascents to 25' per minute. I think what I'm after here, is to either find some of these tables in waterproof form, or to have some made up. I have a wrist computer, and a Citizen Dive pro, but still would prefer to have more control of things. The CCRB is definately the way to go on long dives, & I would like to be comfortable when on a 'reach', but I'm probably a couple of years away from that, at this point. I guess it all depends on how bad the 'bug' bites me again. I'm really envious of your explorations with Kathleen, + you're very fortunate to make some of those trips you do. I work 5 days a week, & still cannot put enough $$ away to get the gear I want & make those kind of excursions. But, I enjoy reading about them. The pictures are awesome-! Anyway, I appreciate your input here for the requested information....>that will keep me busy for quite awhile.
We'll see you all soon around Mayo or Ft. White, I hope.
Take care for now & thank you again.

    Sincerely

    Jack

    Hi Jack,

When I decided to make my own tables I studied everythng in the "Deeper into Diving" manual, spent 1000s of hours making my own dive tables and when I got done ended up with something I was very proud of - but functioned (but didn't lok much like) nearly identically to the Swiss tables you mention.

Today I dive a simple Nitek3 dive computer + deep stops for the usual stuff and VPM for the deep stuff. I may one day get a VR3 when they go VPM.

And CCRB is nice but you will always be limited by the bailout you can bring along. Most of the dives we do can be done with simple stuff and scooters and stages. CCRB would be nice for insanely deep stuff but who needs that much deco?

It's not about being fortunate or having a lot of gear - or even a job or good health or money. Its just about moving near the caves and getting in the water as often as possiable.

When it comes to diving these days I'm no slouch but I have to tip my hat to Rich who is a better example of someone who knows how to get in the water and have fun. Knowing the equations is nice but a dive computer is easier. No matter how safe you try to be you will escape the stupidest things a hundred times and then get bent on an easy dive on an undeserved hit.

When you come to town next drop us a line. It would be fun to dive if possiable.

Oh! I'm sorry to say that the book doesn't have a useful copy of the dive tables you are looking for in it. It's mostly theoretical. It only shows a copy of the Swiss table for some uselessly high altitude and details of how it's created and how to use it. There are some useful copies of otehr dive tables in it but I never found a good copy of the swiss tables I could use anywhere.

    Good luck!
