You can try calling the ranger's station and ask them.

I Dove Sunday the 1st. Viz was really poor. You could not see the sign from the inside of the rabbit hole. Flow is minimal. Would not suprise me if the system has or is about to reverse. It clears moderately after Martz, but, is still poor. Maybe 20ft.

With 20 foot of vis, you can see a bunch. if 10 foo tis not ad or considered about right. 20 foot is normal and considered awsome vis. Guess it is what one is used to diving in and will take to get a chacne to cave dive up here in our cooler water of only 58*.

Remember vis is what one is used to. If we have 30 foot then the water is considered crystal clear.

It depends on the cave too. I wouldn't want to dive DP3 in 20' of viz, but in smaller cave, 20' viz just helps ya focus on all the little things that make a cave beautiful. It's like two caves for the price of one....with great viz, you get the big picture and probably move more quickly through...with less viz, you get to see all of the little formations and fossils and such that you might not focus on otherwise.

I also found out the hard way. Drove all the way from Daytona to find it closed. When i was pulling in the parking lot I was so happy to see it empty because me and my buddy would have the cave all to our self's but when i got to the ranger hut i saw the sign that said closed to swimming and diving. It was another hour before we got to Peacock and got in the water.

    Default Madison Closed?

    What was the reason?

It seems this cave is very affected by either too much or too little rain.
