I have heard that there was a new connection at Little River and was wandering if there was any more info on this out there yet?

i forget the names and stuff, but it was talked about on my LR dive report thread, and then it was removed by the mods, due to arguments etc.

If anyone has details, please make a report. The reason the previous info was pulled was that it was more like an argument on the playground than adults sharing information.

(There weren't any specifics in the aforementioned posts - just an implication that someone connected the Florida Room to the Harper Tunnel.)

A mention of another connection was made in that post; Jill Heinerth and I connected McCormick Sink to downstream Rose Sink. It was a three year project that Jim Stevenson former head of the states Springs Initiative asked me to undertake. These sinks are one mile apart as measured by GPS from sink to sink; the cave distance is around 7,000 ft.

When the connection was made the junction was marked with a proper project marker that was pointed to the closest exit which is McCormick at that point.

I was inquiring about the connection made in Little River. I want to know if it is something diveable, where anything in Rose is not due to it being a closed system.

Okay, I'll try this again and we’ll see how long it stays up:
Two weeks ago Marius Frei made a connection between the small siphon tunnel in the Florida room to the Harper Tunnel. He said that it was extremely tight in places, some times requiring no-mount.
After accomplishing that, and on subsequent dives at Little River, he also added more line beyond the well casing as well as in the deep section.
I spent the better part of Monday with him taking photos for a planned article on what he's done while here for three months from Switzerland. Marius has been doing some good exploration dives and I think the cave diving community would find it interesting and informative.
Now, on to Rose Sink. Congratulations to Jill and Jerry for the work they did there! Marius also was involved somewhat with that as he had dove with Lamar Hires two days before Jill and Jerry made the connection and from what I understand Marius assisted as he found a way around a tight restriction thus helping to make the connection.
Bottom line here is that in just these past two weeks cave divers have found new passageways and have ran line and made some new connections. Great job to all involved!
