    Smile WTB Driverite Wreck Canister

Does anybody have an older model DR Wreck canister for sale that they have lying around. I am looking for the ones with the gray lip (about 9 1/4" tall and 3 1/2" diameter). I do not need the cord, gland and switch (with boot) are nice and watertight...latches are a plus...

Feel free to email me at: achuber65@yahoo.com. Thanks.

Why not just build your own out of PVC?

I can build for you for a small fee if you want. All you would need to tell me is what inside diameter you need and where you want the holes for the gland/switch. I can tap the glad hole with the proper threads, etc. The one shown is schedule 40 PVC, but I have changed to schedule 80 since it is thicker. Also, I use a flat gasket seal instead of an o-ring as I feel the larger surface area creates a better seal. I think the wreck canister is sched 80 PVC as well.

The can itself it's pretty affordable. The real cost is in the latches Salvo/DR ($25), the gland Agro ($13), switch and boot ($10).

Default What are the first two pictures?

I was looking at your pictures.

What are the first two pictures?
What type of light head did you make? 3 LEDS?

What type of housing is that? Video camera?

    Thanks

Yes, I built a "poor boy" video set up. The big housing is the camera housing for my Sony Hard Drive camera. The light is a 3 LED set up with 9 D battery canister. The head is composed of 3 aluminum pieces sandwiched together to serve as heatsinks. The lens is 1/4" polycarbonate and each section of the sandwich has a rubber gasket between it. I drilled and tapped holes to hold everything together. I re-did the canister differently than the one pictured. The one in the picture is schedule 40 PVC painted with truck bed coating. The new one is schedule 80 left its original grey color. The schedule 80 is thicker. I also used a flat gasket instead of an o-ring. The new canister turned out great.

My original canister used a Halcyon lid that is used for transporting the canisters (you can get this lid at Halcyon dealers). I switched to a schedule 80 PVC one as well.

Default Why gaskets instead of O-rings?

I was wondering, you appear to dislike O-rings. Any particular reason?

The gasket loos like it would hold pressure both ways, in case of a flood, it could hold pressure in.

    Are you on hiddivelights ?

Default Dive Rite Wreck Canister Light

I have a Wreck Cannister with 2 batteries, charger, the whole package. Wife decided she wanted a smaller light. It is in good shape. Low usage, but kept batteries charged. I'll take $250 for it.

I don't dislike O-rings. I just found a nice flat gasket that fit my application and went with it. A nice thing about the flat gasket is that it provides a full 1/4" inch of sealing surface vs. 1/8" for the o-ring. In my opinion, better sealing and decreasing the likelihood of a flood in the first place.

    My lights are LED.
