    Default Jug Hole

looking for someone to tell me about jug? We are planning on going down just for the day to do some cavern diving. I hear if the sun is shining you can get a pretty good few and a big cavern. Can cavern divers dive there? I know Madison wont let you(know for a fact, found out the hard way). Just wonted some info on what i might expect thanks alot.

There is no limit. We'll always find a way to go deeper and deeper. That's been the pattern all along.

Yes, they allow cavern divers....we went last year with a couple friends that were just cavern. Actually, we were never asked for our ID's, tho we did leave them on the dash.

It is a gorgeous dive and a long walk!!

It is a decent walk to the basin from the parking lot. We typically bring a hand cart to wheel our gear down to the basin and then set up on the benches there. Cavern divers are allowed, just be sure to put your cert card on the dash along with your stub from the day pass ($10) or your annual state park pass. It is one of the most beautiful cavern dives around.

A few shots from our last trip there:

As usual, your pictures are gorgeous. How nice is the trail you walk down? Is it something you need pneumatic tires for or will my small fold up handcart be sufficient?

I would not use a fold up cart. Use the big solid cart and you can put everything on it with bungies and make one trip.

    Default Did it last month

Dove it Jan. 11th. The trail is part boardwalk then rolling sand until the end and boardwalk again. We used a wagon and had three sets of gear in it. We were the only team at the place and had it to our selves. Inkdivers pictures were super. Water was clear. The cavern area is quite large, then there is a dip-down into a bedding plane that should be side mount only. You will get a map of the system at the ranger gate. Be safe and have fun.

    Beautiful photos!!

OK, I'm not flaming anybody here but GOOD GOD that's a lot of gear for Jug.

Guys, I dive to the end of the line and fiddle fart around on my way out with a pair of LP45's filled with air.

A lot less gear to transport.

It's bad luck to be superstitious.
