    Default Peacock - 1/24/2009

Did a dive in Peacock on Saturday (1/24).

Vis in Peacock is just awesome right now. Saw a shaft of sunlight coming down thru Olsen (on the Challenge side) that went down to the floor (right near the sharp left turn into the bedding plane). Lit up the whole passageway with gorgeous blue/white light. And me without a camera.

Bottom Line: Olsen was just peachy-time clear.

In some spots , we must have had over 50' of vis.
I kept peeking ahead to see if I could see the next distance arrow.
And lots of light on the floor coming down from Pothole too.

P.S. Maybe the cold weather had something to do with it. Hmmmmm

Oh , and there is DuckWeed on top of P1. I guess P3 is completely covered with it , from other divers reports on Saturday.

Great report, Jean! Thanks for the brief escape from my cubicle this morning!

Is the duckweed on P1/P3 something that has happened before? Or is indicative of a permanent change? Any ideas on what a duckweed covering would do to the unique (scary cool!) underwater growth at P3?

Shirley you're not serious? No, I'm not, but do stop calling me Shirley.

    Default pSSP conditions

    Hmmmm.

Dove PSSP this weekend too. Water was great at first .....

    But:
I dove down to the Crypt via Cisteen and just beyond.
The water seemed a bit more green and poorer viz than usual. Maybe 20-30'

    Not sure on the duckweed...

Ya what's up with that ? We dove P1 to find it covered with duckweed.
