Greetings All:
Camp Indian Springs is having a work day. This email was composed by Jason Ottinger:
" Hi Everyone:
Camp Indian Springs is welcomes you to its 2009 winter work day party.
Keeping the Camp in working order through volunteering and donations
ensures its existence and preservation for years to come. Please be sure
to mark this date on our calendars. The Camp is hosting this work party
to continue the pressure washing of its boys cabins, some steeple repair
at the equestrian center, if materials are available they would like
convert the blue building next to the spring into a camp store by
concreting the flooring, replacing/repairing electrical outlets and
lighting, and putting in drywall. Please let the Camp know if you will
be able to come out and assist with any of these upcoming projects.
**Just as importantly, Al and Josh have asked if the diving community
can come together to support the funding and rebuilding of a dive
platform between this work party and before camp season begins. I was
thinking we can build a platform dock in similar style to the one that
has almost weathered away based on the same material we used for the
steps at Emerald Sink (Treks material). I would greatly appreciate any
input that can be given into this project from some of our savvy
architects/engineers, and woodworking dive volunteers. Josh is going to
get me the dimensions and approximate cost of materials needed. We can
possible use the existing floats for the platform dock. We can have a
group of volunteers disassemble the existing platform and salvage floats
and any hardware that is in good working condition.**
To complete the above dive community sponsored project, If weekends are
bad for some, I am sure arrangements can be made with the Camp to have a
mini-work party scheduled for those that would like to help out during
the week. I would like all guides and all survey project members to
volunteer at least one day of their time to helping the Camp with this
prearranged project prior to the Camp's Summer program starting at the
end of May 2009.
As always, the Camp truly appreciates all the help or donations it
receives from the diving community. For further information on this
event, please read the Camp Director's message below:
